Mike Sebastian Bay is behind Bay Pipes. Mike is one of the new young upcoming Danish pipemakers and he has been a part of the team by Tom Eltang since 2015. Mike soon began to apprentice in Eltang's shop part-time, which eventually led to Tom teaching Bay the ins and outs of the craft. Before long, Mike found himself working alongside the famous artisan. During this time, Mike developed a firm grasp of Tom's signature rustication style, having applied it to many Eltang pipes. Bay was even given Tom's blessing to use the rustication on his own pieces, and to continue to hone and evolve the technique. Mike's work certainly exhibits the influence of his mentor, but also his own character and style

He had spent three years as a dedicated hobby pipe maker (with guidance from none other than Tom Eltang), when in 2006 he handed in his letter of resignation to the research institute. After watching an interview with Anne Julie, one day he reached out to contact Tom Eltang, who mentored Peter and helped introduce him to the broader pipe community. After three years of learning and developing as a pipemaker, the time finally came for Peter to make his choice: he bid adieu to the research institute, and the pipe world gained one of its premier artisans.
Peter Klein has been making pipes since 1988. Peter is clearly influenced by the style of the Danish pipe makers and since 2007 he has been living in Denmark. He primarily uses plateau briar from the southern Italy. The majority of his pipes are fitted with handmade ebonite mouthpieces. Peter makes pipes for 9mm filter as well as pipes without filter.
His pipes are graded as follows: D, C, B, A, AA, Orca (from least to most valuable).
Radice: In 1980, He founded the Radice pipes and has been a cornerstone for shaping and craftsmanship ever since. Along with Gianluca and Marzio (his sons) in Cucciago, Italy, they produce around 900 pipes annually.This brand's shaping is, of course, Italian. New rusticating and carving styles, and oil curing helped to place the brand where it is today.
The purpose of the Sara Eltang line is to introduce a brand of affordable and well smoking pipes that falls within the level of quality my workshop represents.
Living in Portugal, Joao Madail has been making pipes since his retirement in 2010 under the name Scorpius Pipes. He studied under renowned pipe maker Joao Reis, who was trained under many well-known Danish carvers such as Eltang, Ilsted, and the Nielsen’s.
It produces about a hundred pipes a year, smooth, rusticated or sandblasted, but his favorites are the smooth ones. His pipes are signed by laser, and the stem have a SCORPIUS engraved.

Making pipes is part of my DNA. When other children played with Lego I made my first pipe at the age of 8. Still, it was not until 2016 I decided that I wanted to make pipes professionally.
I am the grandson of two of the world’s most famous pipe makers: Poul Rasmussen and Anne Julie. Poul is a legend and has influenced the industry and a lot of the most prominent pipe makers in it. Among those, his wife Anne Julie who still today is the closest you get to royalty in the pipe world.
There are no schools for pipe making, but my grandmother knew exactly what to do when I wanted to learn more. One of Anne Julie’s earlier students, Tom Eltang, is today one of the leading pipe makers – not only in Denmark – but in the entire world. I gave him a call and I have been working with him since 2016. He has taught me a lot about craftmanship and classic pipes but he has also taught me to find my own expression.

Tom Eltang: 'It's good to be a pipe maker' Tom is also known to most pipe makers as ‘the man’. He is considered by many to be the most talented and prolific pipe maker in the world. The most important aspect for Tom is that the pipe is a good smoker. His production is nearly 500 pipes per year,with the snail being his highest grade.Tom’s accents are often bamboo, boxwood, and horn. His stems are hand cut from solid vulcanite rods and his tenons are turned from the same stock.
Poul is another Danish pipe maker that has been around the block a few times. Poul’s work is extremely recognisable, much due the fact that he insists that his pipes should to be happy and colourful - and bring visual joy in a world that can sometimes be a bit grey
